In 2003, I was recruited by a full-service aluminum company to manage their gutter and soffit departments.Ī year later, in 2004, I was recruited by another full-service aluminum company into a top-level management position.Īnother year later, in 2005, after growing frustrated by the transient nature and the lack of character and work ethic in the available workforce, I longed for a family-oriented business like the one I’d cut my teeth on - where everyone takes pride in their own workmanship. In the several years that followed, one thing led to another, and I found myself managing the company. I accepted their offer, and began burning the candle at both ends (still playing music 5 nights a week). ![]() ![]() That “one day” grew into a new career.Īt the close of that day, they asked if I’d stay on and train as an installer. On a whim, I asked if I could do a day’s worth of unskilled work - clean the shop, etc. In 1996, when I was 30, I was talking to some longtime friends of mine who owned an established family-oriented gutter company in the area. Throughout my 20’s, I was a full-time musician.
